Hi all.

Jeffrey here.

So part of my job is negotiating agreements, which are sometimes called Memoranda of Understanding or MOU for short, pronounced “moo.” To celebrate the completion of a MOU, we have a MOU ceremony featuring our mascot “SuperMou.” SuperMou is battery-powered and can walk and moo loudly.

“This is Steer Lunacy” is this week’s puzzle title and the theme answers are all cow puns. Because why not.

18a [German beef stew?]– HASENHEIFER. Hasenpfeffer.

28a [Like a cow that’s just given birth?]– DECALFINATED. Decaffeinated.

48a [Using terms a milkmaid would understand?]– IN UDDER WORDS. In other words.

62a [“Arthur” actor in a bovine role?]– DUDLEY MOOER. Dudley Moore.
